Mintage quantities of the euro coins and official euro collector folders

Here you find an up-to-date list of the mintage quantities of the euro coins. The table consists of the 1 cent to 2 euro coins, the 2 euro commemorative coins, the official collector folders in BU/FDC/BNC and PP/PROOF/BE/prooflike quality as well as official coincards, minikits, folders, blisters and coin sets, that have been issued by the national mints. The mintage quantities of the denominations 1 cent to 2 euro are the actual circulation numbers without folders. To determine the total volume of coin issuance, the mintage figures of the collector folders have to be added to the quantities of the euro coins. The information presented here can help coin collectors to identify rare euro coins with low mintage quantities and to determine the value of their collection. Almost all mintage figures have been acquired from official sources.

Changelog 30.08.2010 - 2 euro commemorative coin Finland 2010 '150 years Finnish Currency' added (total 1.400.000 pieces, of which 23.000 pieces are issued in a proof box). Euro collector folder Finland 2010 BU II 'Year of Biodiversity' and proof set 2010 added (15.000 resp. 2.000 pieces, both €5,88 including the 2 euro commemorative coin). 27.08.2010 - Mintage quantity of the euro set San Marino 2010 proof raised to 8.600 pieces. The minikit San Marino 2010 will contain 10 cent + 2 euro instead of 20 cent + 2 euro. 13.08.2010 - Finland collector folder 2010 BU '150 years Mint of Finland' added (7.000 pieces). 30.07.2010 - Mintage quantity of the euro set San Marino 2010 proof added (5.000 pieces). 23.07.2010 - Mintage quantity of the 50 euro cent coin Vatican 2010 added (2.184.704 pieces for circulation). 12.07.2010 - Mintage quantities of the Irish euro coins 2007-2010 updated (coins minted until April 3rd 2010). 07.07.2010 - 2 euro commemorative coin Greece 2010 '2.500th anniversary of the Battle of Marathon' added (2.500.000 pieces). 06.07.2010 - Mintage quantities of the euro coins Netherlands 2009 updated (final quantities published by the KNM). 11.06.2010 - Finland mini folder 2010 with 1+2+5 cent 2010 added (10.000 pieces). 25.05.2010 - Mintage quantities of the German euro coins 2010 updated (new mint orders for 5+20 cent and 2 euro normal 2010).

Notes on the mintage figures

• The mintage numbers of the single euro coins do not contain any folder quantities of the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Germany, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Portugal, San Marino, Slovenia, Spain, Vatican.
• Belgium 1999-2004: The Belgian Mint has published their final mintage quantities end of 2006. It cannot be excluded, that there will be changes for the years 2005 and 2006. The 1 Euro coin Belgium 2003 has been minted for circulation. There are definitively rolls of 10+50 cent 2003 euro coins, that come from remains of the BU folders. The 10 cent coin Belgium 2002 was originally planned only for the official collector folders. The low additional quantity of circulation coins explains, why some coins already have been found in circulation.
• Germany 2003: The 10 cent 'F' 2003 coin can be found in circulation, but quite limited. In the meantime several original rolls have been sold on eBay for high prices. These rolls have been packed in October 2005.
• Germany 2004: The numbers have been calculated according to the mint orders of the Bundesbank. In year 2004/2005 the following coins have been issued to circulation: 1+2+5 cent ADFGJ, 20 cent D, 2 euro ADJ. The following coins have been issued first in the years 2007-2009: 10 cent DFG, 50 cent AFG, 1 euro ADFG.
• France 2002: The 110.000 pieces 1 cent 2002 and 9.000 coins of 2 cent France 2002 have been accidentally put into the starter packs.
• Ireland: The quantities of the euro coins Ireland denote the number of coins minted until 03/04/2010. Only a small quantity of the 2 euro 2009 has been minted so far, but it is very likely, that the additional coins will minted in the future. All circulation quantities include those of the baby sets and Dublin Coin Fair Sets. The experience of the last years has shown, that coins of the previous 3 years are being minted in the current year.
• Austria 2003: The numbers of 10.000 resp. 150.000 pieces of 10 cent and 1 euro 2003 come from the euro coin catalogue of Gerhard Schön. It is proven that a few 1 euro coins 2003 have been found in circulation.
• Monaco 2007: The 100.000 pieces 1 euro Monaco 2007 have been minted end of year 2007 and May 2008 (new common map design). An official collector product does not exist with that coin. The coins will be given into circulation through banks. Of the 100.000 pieces there exist 2.991 pieces without mintmarks (Pessac). The 2 euro coin Monaco 2009 will also be minted for circulation (250.000 pieces of which 143.326 pieces have been issued in year 2009 and 106.674 pieces will be issued in 2010). All coins Monaco 2009 will be issued in a BU folder (mintage 8.000, 5.000 pieces in year 2009, 3.000 pieces in year 2010).
• Vatican 2002: The Vatican website lists a total number of 80.000 coins each for the year 2002. The 6.000 pieces include 1.000 or 2.000 starter packs (it's unsure which of these two numbers is the correct one). It is unknown whether the rest of the coins have been produced or what they have been used for.
• The table now has 2 columns for the 2 euro commemorative coins, because some countries will issue two different 2 euro special coins. A description can be viewed by holding the mouse over the i-symbol for a while.
